1. On Friday, January 24th pro life advocates from all over the world will come together and march for life. The March for Life is an annual event that occurs on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which legalized abortion in all 5 states. The national March for life occurs in Washington DC down Constitution Avenue towards the State Capitol Building and Mobile has its own March for Life through downtown for all those who are unable to make it to DC. Students are invited to attend the March for Life and if you are in need of assistance for travel or lodging or specific details for the March in the DC please talk with Emma Zanotelli.
2. If you are unable to attend the March in DC, please make time on Friday to attend the March in downtown Mobile. Faith Harrell is working with the University to reestablish the Students for Life of America at South. The March for Life is a great way to kick off the restart of this important organization on our University campus. Students who would like to attend the Mobile March for life on Friday are welcome to join a carpool of students leaving from the CSA at 8:45am to make it downtown for the rally which will begin at 9:45am in Cathedra Square. More details in the newsletter.
3. Thank to Mary Jo Wilder who shared her reflection on many various ways that Catholic Charities impacts the ministries in our Archdiocese. Please support the Catholic Charities 2020 Appeal - you can do it by filling out the envelopes which are aviaible in your pews or by sending a text message CCA to 91999 and completing your donation/pledge online. Please do not forget to choose the Sacred Heart of Jesus USA when asked for the parish. We encourage every college student without exception to pledge the minimum $15 - it is not a lot to ask for considering the fact that CC is the main source of funding for our Student Center and our students do not pay for any events/meals at the Center. Please remember that if it wouldn't be for CC, we would not have FOCUS missionaries at our campus - if you have a great experience in Bible study or your faith has been influenced by any of them, please make your donation to give back and allow others to benefit from their presence next year.
